I use stretched canvas or cradleboard that is primed and tinted. I work on location in the Southwest, using oils to build up a richness of intense color and texture.

I focus my painting on shapes, line and color, not necessarily trying to capture reality, but more of the feeling of it. I work in the times of day that reflect the greatest contrast, early morning or late evening.

My goal is to paint the way the landscape feels, not necessarily the way it looks; modifying design elements to show the expressive qualities of the scene.
