Every year at La Mesa Gallery, on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, I participate in the Canyon Road Fall Art Stroll. During this time, many galleries along the famous gallery row will have their artists working “live” in their courtyards or just in front of their storefronts. It’s usually a very festive fall event!
So excited to see a little write up about Wild Rivers Plein Air Festival. My painting, “Sunset over Wild Rivers” took first place in the Landscape category.

July 16 – 21, 2019
80 artists came to the Questa area and painted for 4 days and then participated in a two day show in Red River! It was great fun with workshops, demonstrations and lots of social activities. The two day show was held at the Rail Haus Theater with over 260 paintings hung and divided into four categories. This painting, Sunset Over Wild Rivers took First Place in the Landscape division. What a surprize and honor!
This first place winning painting was done on the first evening of the festival. I was dead tired but got into the Element and went out to Cebolla Mesa. This was a fast, easy painting. I was chasing the sun, as they say. the light slipped away with beautiful color!
Another painting done during the festival of the Questa mountains looking east from St Anthony’s Church. I called it Questa Plaza. Happy to say that it sold as well!

Look for my banner in front of Montes Chow Cart!
What a super fun thing is this! My painting titled Base of the Rio Grande, was selected to be displayed for a whole year in front of one of my favorite places to grab a bite, Montes Chow Cart at 402 Paseo Del Pueblo Sur.

Grand Canyon Rafting/Painting Trip, May 1-8, 2019
Yes, A bucket list kind of thing!
8 days rafting and painting in the Grand Canyon. What an exciting adventure! The trip was a blast but I did end up with a broken arm…left one so I can still paint! It might slow me down a bit, but not for long.
Here is the slot canyon where it happened. As you can see, lots of climbing. Had to break it at the end of the trail!
Overall, It was still a super trip! Got quite a few good paintings done and met a lot of wonderful folks!
Next year’s trip? Maybe up the west coast in my little camper!
Here’s a little glimpse of some abstractions I am working on. This really helps me to stay loose and to focus on color, line, shapes, pattern and spontaneity! I love doing these little crazy things! It helps me to relax when its a cold day inside and I can’t get out and paint the landscape!
